Congratulations to Catherine O’Brien on her promotion to Senior Research Fellow, in recognition of her important contributions to building safety digital services. Cathy has been instrumental in research characterising harassment through the large-scale qualitative analysis of behaviour-related platform documents. This work underpins her ongoing research on platform reporting tools, using co-design to understand user needs and developing novel methods to inform the design of features for future reporting mechanisms.
In addition to her research, she has been successful in securing funding and has been a highly valued member of the broader information security research group and the wider department, contributing to the CS ethics committee, teaching, and the supervision of MSc students.
